Out of the Mouth of Babes

King of the JuiceMy brother is a teacher. Recently he overheard a 2nd grader say to a classmate, “When I was younger, I thought Jesus was the King of the juice.”

That either

  • suggests why so many of my red-faced ancestors were drunks
  • offers a Christian rationale for intemperance
  • is a not-so-subtle reminder to O.J. who’s in-charge, or
  • provides an interesting opportunity for lectio.[1]

[1] Lectio Divina is the prayerful pondering of a sacred text. See http://www.thesacredbraid.com/the-human-and-the-holy/resources/lectio-divina/
