A young woman asked Sister Mahala, “Sister, what is the difference between a fool and a wise person?”

Sister Mahala briefly considered the question, then said, “The foolish person spends her life trying to fill the emptiness of which she is unaware. The wise person spends her life trying to be aware of the emptiness that she can never fill.”
