An Irish Blessing

The people of the stacked stones on my mother’s side (Moran) loved to give blessings. Even the smallest incident merited a blessing. I know for sure the world is enriched whenever and wherever we enact blessing. Likewise, I know that the world is impoverished, as are we, whenever someone has not had the experience of being and feeling blessed, whenever people are indifferent to being blessed, or whenever people fail to bless.

An Irish Blessing

Wishing you always walls for the wind,
a roof for the rain, and tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all that your heart might desire.

Wishing you always faith for a friend,
balm for your pain, rest for when you’re tired
wonder to hold you, love to enfold you,
and all that your heart might desire.

Yes, and all that your heart might desire.
Yes, and all that God’s heart might desire.
