A Lenten Reflection ~ 40 ~ Palm Sunday

We know Jesus is riding toward the center of a maelstrom in which his crowning moment will appear as anything but triumphant.

Today we celebrate Passion Sunday, more commonly called Palm Sunday. By this point in his life, Jesus is not fooled by all the fanfare and adulation shown him on his ride into Jerusalem. He knows he’s headed toward danger, headed for trouble and the threat to his life. But he goes nonetheless for the sake of life. These last three weeks we have seen so many people following Jesus’ courageous lead. For the sake of life and the greater good, men and women are moving toward danger, moving toward a threat to their lives. It’s what they’re called to do, they say — doctors, nurses, EMT’s, Firefighters, chaplains, custodial workers, food service employees, and all support staff at all the health care facilities and any and all places of business that remain open because their business is indispensable to sustaining life in their community. It is more than a job. It is Christ-like selfless service. It is people revealing the nobility, courage, compassion, and dignity of being human. if you care to accompany Jesus into Jerusalem CLICK HERE..
