Today’s Life-Line is:
I really can’t say this strongly enough no matter how many people in the Jewish-and-otherwise world I offend by saying this: The question of whether or not you believe in God is important. But the question of what kind of God you believe in is a heck of a lot more so. After all, Osama Ben Laden believed in God. Lots of truly horrible people believe in God and do horrible things in the name of the horrible God they believe in. Sometimes, even otherwise decent people do horrible things in the name of the horrible God they’ve come to be convinced demands that of them. So, as a theologian, I would say, “Far better to be an atheist than to believe in many of the so-called gods who pass for God in our world.”
